Giving Plastic a Second Life

Every NuPod begins its life as discarded plastic, the type that would otherwise enter landfill.

The process involves:

  • Collecting postconsumer and post-industrial plastic
  • Sorting and cleaning
  • Shredding the material into manageable fragments.

This recovered plastic becomes the foundation for a circular manufacturing loop: waste → pellet → NuPod → ground.

Transforming Recycled Plastic into Engineering-Grade Pellets

Once shredded, the material goes through a controlled reprocessing phase. Heat, pressure, and filtration transform plastic into new, consistent pellets engineered for strength, durability, and mouldability.

This step is key because it ensures:

  • Structural consistency across every pod
  • Reliable performance under concrete loads
  • Compliance with engineering expectations and Australian.

The pellets are batched, quality-checked, and fed directly into the NuPod moulding line.

Precision Moulding: The Moment a NuPod Takes Shape

NuPod was intentionally designed to match traditional polystyrene pods, same box height, same rib centres, so builders can switch in a day, with no layout changes.

During production:

  • Pellets are melted and injected into custom tooling
  • Moulds define pod size, height, and rib patterns
  • Cooling systems ensure strength and dimensional accuracy
  • Each pod is inspected before stacking.

The result is a rigid void former with excellent load transfer, clean edges, and stackability that simplifies site logistics.
